Look at these cuties. This is Wild Assam pepper. You can recognise it by unusual shape similar to blackberries, but few times smaller.
Wild Assam pepper is a rare sub-type of Long Pepper. It has interesting smoky flavour, which suits meat and oily fish dishes very well, especially lamb or salmon.
I usually use it for spicy legumes and vegetables stews and also for shakshuka.
I adore it, but don’t use it too often in cooking.
